You will need to leave your Kindle powered on but in sleep mode.

If it has run out of power, you may want to plug it in first to ensure that the display is still intact and not cracked.

Gently pry the bezel off the screen using a plastic opening tool. Start at the corners and slide around the edges until you return to your starting point.

You may need plastic cards in between the bezel and rear cover if the former keeps sticking back down while you attempt to pry it up.

Be careful if using the metal spudger, as it can scratch the surface of the Kindle.
