Newer HP laptops aren't a disaster to work on and have adopted longstanding Elite design for component access on the Pavilion line in the last 10 years. These laptops are a blight which has (thankfully) been fixed by HP designing for repair in recent years. I am glad these days are over with HP. The newer post-HSW (Haswell, 4th gen) HPs also do away with the dreaded WLAN whitelisting nonsense these older models are usually infected by :-).
