Title
Whirlpool Dryer Outlet Thermistor Testing and Replacement
Introduction
Use this guide to walk you through the steps to test and replace the outlet thermistor on your Whirlpool dryer.
The outlet thermistor is the basic temperature control sensor for your dryer. The resistance of the thermistor changes with temperature, and this change is monitored by the Main Board (A.K.A. Cycle Control Unit), which controls the heating element in your dryer.
If the outlet thermistor fails, the dryer will likely not heat and will probably display an error code.
Although this repair is rated as difficult, the main difficulty is the length of disassembly, especially the front bulkhead. Take your time and don't force things.
***This guide will work for most Whirlpool dryers.*** This guide is written with a model WED87HED dryer. If you have a different model, you may encounter some minor disassembly differences, but the overall repair process will be the same.
