The side brush motors power the two side brushes on the Shark ION Robot R75. If your Shark ION Robot still functions without side brush movement and the brushes have already been replaced, this guide will show the process of replacing a burnt out or malfunctioning side brush motor. This guide is a bit more involved than some of the other simpler guides, so be patient and follow step by step. You will want to follow this guide in the event that either your brush motors fail, or in case your charging contacts need to be replaced.

Flip the R75 over so that the underside is facing up.

Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the 4mm screw in the battery cover.

Remove the battery cover.

Slowly pull the white tabs outward to remove the battery.

Push down on the tab of the battery connector using a set of tweezers and pull the connector away from the robot to free the wire.

Here, you’re using tweezers, but you don’t indicate that in the guide steps. Instead of including the information in the special bullet, I would just integrate the tool into the actual procedure. Do you have pictures of you pushing the tab? Can they yank the wire, or do they need to pull gently? I would add a flipbook style action shot to make the procedure clearer in the pictures.

Make sure to read through all guides to make sure you don’t have these kinds of continuity errors. Using a Torx T15 screwdriver, remove the five screws from the drive wheel assembly.

Carefully lift the drive wheel assembly from the wheel well by gently pulling up on the wheel.

For all remaining “remove” steps, if something can be done in multiple ways, then you need to indicate how. Remove is good for screws because there’s only one way to do that. For everything else, use more detail or a stronger verb.

What is the motor part that is being replaced?
I have a different question.
My ion 75 will clean for three minutes, and then it returns to dock. I have cleaned everything underneath but have not unscrewed anything. Popped the wheels and brushes and used Qtip on the side sensors. I charged directly from the wall (bypassing the charger) and had the same result….. three minutes cleaning and returns to dock.
Am I being premature to suspect a battery replacement is needed? This detailed article of yours has me wondering.

My ion RV870 series just stopped working flashes blue max. I have checked all components and cleaned. It has a good charge. I see no dysfunction what so ever. How do I get it working again?? I'm out of ideas because everything seems to be functional and clean.
These were awesome instructions for me. Mine had hair wrapped around the brush motor spindle. Before fix it would come off the dock and stop after like 1 foot. After tear down and full clean, it went over an hour. Thank you!

Here, you have misused the reminder bullet. The note bullet would be better in this case; I would also say how to turn it off, rather than just to do it.
