Follow this guide to replace the Moto G5’s rechargeable battery. If your battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.
Before you begin, download the Software Fix app to backup your device and diagnose whether your problem is software or hardware related.
This procedure will not work for the Moto G5S. Be sure to check your phone model before you begin this guide. If you have the Moto G5S, check out this guide.
For your safety, discharge your existing battery below 25% before disassembling your phone. This reduces the risk of a dangerous thermal event if the battery is accidentally damaged during the repair.

@Tom Tercek - You are in a huge mistake. This is the Motorola Moto G5 phone and the battery is removable and as shown on the pics, very easy to replace.
is it also possible with moto g5s?
Unfortunately, the G5S does not have an easily replaceable battery.
Hi, I'm looking for parts for Moto G5, specifically an intern plastic cover that goes over the charge port.
Beware this doesn't work for the g 5G ! If you follow the instructions, like I did, you'll remove the FRONT COVER, not the back, thus ruining the screen, like I did. It is FAR more difficult than shown here.
Thank you very much, now I can buy a new one !
Can anyone recommend a place where I can get a replacement battery for the Moto G5 that won't spontaneously explode or catch fire? Motorola or more correctly Lenovo who manufacture the phone or at least now own Motorola's phone manufacturing division say they don't make replacement batteries.
