Rideau Cottage est construit par Stewart Taylor and Co., selon les plans de l'architecte ++Frederick Preston Rubidge++ ; le chantier commence en 1866 et se termine l'année suivante^^++[2]. Le coût de la construction s'est élevé à 5 000 ++$CA++^^++[1++]. Bien qu'il ait été prévu dans les premiers temps pour servir de résidence au ++secrétaire du gouverneur général++, le cottage est aussi utilisé par la suite comme résidence officielle pour les dignitaires en visite^^++[3^^].
Le premier agrandissement de Rideau Cottage a lieu en 1872 avec l'ajout d'un second étage et d'une ++véranda++ selon les plans de ++Thomas Seaton Scott++, architecte en chef de ++Travaux publics Canada++. En 1905, une annexe est ajoutée à l'arrière, principalement pour agrandir la cuisine. En 1933, une aile de deux étages est ajoutée au côté nord dans le but d'agrandir la salle à manger. Un porche grillagé et un garage contigu sont ajoutés par la suite. En 1954-1955 la véranda est remplacée par un ++porche++ d'inspiration classique^^++[2++^^].

I got this yesterday....up and running now....how on earth do I MERGE the 18GB partition D with C....there is just NO option there.
