On most Dell computers, a pattern of 2 amber lights followed by 3 white lights indicates that something is wrong with the RAM.


You will need to try and reset the RAM modules. Here is a guide for replacing the RAM on a similar laptop. Don't actually replace the ram sticks, just remove them and leave them out for ~2 minutes and then reinset them.
