Repair and support for the controllers that shipped with the PS3. Released in November 2007 (Japan only) and 2008 (other countries), the six-axis lithium battery powered controller (CECHZC2) is straightforward to repair.

Dualshock 3 won’t connect with working USB

I have a recently purchased Dualshock 3 controller. When pressing the middle PS button, it shows the 4 flashing lights to initiate pairing. Yet, even after connecting it to my PS3 with a proper USB cord. It will not pair. I have a different working dualshock 3 controller to confirm that wireless connection works on my PS3, and that the USB cord is able to transmit data to pair the controller.

So far I have tried: pressing the reset button on the back side with a paper clip, disassembling the controller and removing the battery then replacing it to reset it. The controller continues to power on but not pair.

Hi Christian!

First, just to be sure, did you tried multiple USB cables?

I think the port need to be replaced. It's most likely the something is broken in there.

Replacing that one requires soldering, which can be difficult.
