Root a Dell Chromebook 3110 2 in 1
is there a way to root a Dell Chromebook 3110, as you would a Android cell phone? would you use the same programs to root it?

You're thinking of going into developer mode, disabling OS verification, and running custom builds of ChromeOS. ChromeOS doesn't have Android-style root function. Depending on how you got it (a lot of people get these used), you need to check for that, as any good sysadmin who didn't get their IT credentials from the school of AI disables the developer mode terminal to prevent kids from hacking these things.
To do this, you will need to enter developer mode and disable OS verification by pressing Esc+Refresh. Then, press the power button while holding these keys. Note that this action does wipe the Chromebook for security, but since these are cloud-based, it's not a significant issue unless you use local storage. The other catch is that you will always need to press Ctrl+D to boot it once it's disabled to keep it "unlocked". IF you press the spacebar, it relocks it.

@nick any idea on this one? This is where you enable the developer mode, then use a custom Linux and chroot command or similar right?

@oldturkey03 Yep, this is dev mode. Typically used for developer use or someone bought an EOL/borderline EOL Chromebook on eBay for peanuts to run Chrome OS Flex or similar software.
