It's usually the RAM. Their notebook motherboards are (kind of) picky about RAM, even commercial PCs. They are more forgiving on all but their HP Z workstations where you can use 3rd party RAM but it doesn’t like cheap modules to an extreme they will not properly POST. In an HP notebook, intermittent and cheap RAM is enough to trigger a POST error.
