HV391 - How to permanently stop the roller brush

I have a need to permanently stop the roller brush so I can use this vacuum only on rugs that would be damaged by a rotating brush (I've got a newer vacuum for the other floors.) Looked for the switch that turns the brush off when the wand is locked upright and couldn't find it. Any ideas on an easy way to do this?

Hi @bobg54562

One way would be to remove the drive belt. That would stop the brush from rotating.

Here's the ifixit Shark Flex DuoClean Drive Belt Replacement guide that may help.

Thanks for your answer. Probably the right way to do it, but I figured out a lazy way. If I leave one side of the garage lid loose the roller brush won't turn.

@bobg54562

If you leave the lid loose won't that mean the dust will come out of the cannister when vacuuming?

@jayeff I think I've figured out how to leave it just "slightly" loose. So it's loose enough so that it doesn't engage the switch, but still tight enough to keep the suction good and all the dust where it belongs.
