Kia released images of the second generation Forte for the 2014 model year in late July 2012, when the company revealed its Korean-market counterpart, Kia K3. The car is completely redesigned with a lower, wider, and longer stance.

The Hyundai/Kia motorized mirrors are fragile and have a tendency to fail due to the gearbox cracking - ran into it on a Theta II Optima where it killed the battery from running all the time. That said do not write off the mirror right away based off of one Optima. It's a thing, but it's not a guaranteed cause of failure.

Check the wiring on the passenger side for voltage with a DMM like this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Klein-Tools-Dig... -- Put the leads in the connector and press the mirror button on the driver side and check that, as well as if you just check with a meter and do not press anything - some cars do not apply voltage without that specific action. If there is voltage, it's probably the mirror. It should be replaceable without calibration, but a lot of the modern ADAS cars do want the part to be registered - for that reason a OEM mirror is needed, unless you can replace the gears that break piecemeal. IF the car needs calibration, it does require an ADAS calibration from a bidirectional scanner if your Forte has any form of it like blindspot detection or anything that qualifies as an ADAS feature - all of these bidirectional ADAS capable scanners are $1k minimum and the renewal cost is NOT CHEAP - I would buy one, but I'd end up making up the cost on doing the work. The connector is hidden under the trim cover and comes off by hand. If you do not see a voltage, check the fuse box for any blown fuses on the driver side of the car. I would need to look at the Optima, but it's likely powered by a dedicated fuse. It will probably say something about the power mirrors. We put a Chinese clone mirror on the Optima and it didn't need calibration (but it throws a code but it happened before and after due to a bad sensor in the bumper), but that era of ADAS was less needy there and it only really comes into play for the bumper sensors. That may remain true with the Forte, but be aware of that one issue.
