I have had this issue with HP laptops in the Windows setup before the Elite G11 series; seen it on the G5, G6 and even the G9. It's a driver problem caused by semi nonstandard trackpads more often then not. It's usually resolved by reinstalling the trackpad driver. Get a cheap wired mouse to use it until you can reinstall the driver.
