Backlight not always working

My Kobo is a Clara HD, and for several months now I'm experiencing some issues with the backlight. I'm not sure if it's something hardware that can be fixed or if it's software.

Whenever I recharge my kobo, the backlight will stop working for a period of time that can range from a few hours to several days.

I've done quite a few tests to try to troubleshoot the problem with no success.

The level of battery does not seem to be directly connected as I encounter the problem no matter if I recharge when the battery is low or high and how long I recharge for.

Factory reset will always instantly fix the problem.

I would really appreciate any insight.

If Factory reset always fixes it, that seems like a software issue to me. I was going on a tear about battery charging and thermal expansion. But then I saw that a factory reset fixes it, so that seems more software related, even if it comes back.

Have you made sure you have done all software updates?

Yes, the software and firmware are up-to-date. The only thing I didn't try yet is a downgrade, I might consider that and see if temporarily fixes it.

I'm afraid it's a mix of hw and sw issue.
