Action (power) button not working; Power station works when plugged in

I have an issue with the power station that had worked previously (albeit not out of the box - it required the firmware fix to charge properly) and still works when plugged in to power:

the blue action/power button stopped working (doesn’t click, pressing it does not power on).

I’ve followed the instructions for disassembly up to removal of the front cover to diagnose the issue and the button on the UI board itself seems to be the most likely culprit (“mushy”, doesn’t click). Tried gently moving it and pulling on it with tweezers a bit thinking it might dislodge it somehow but to no avail.

The fixhub is basically new, I’ve got it as a gift as part of the soldering toolkit and used it twice, so paying for a replacement UI board for repair seems unjustified.

I’ve reported the issue to customer service but I wonder whether there is anything else I could try (perhaps some magic fix I’m missing being new to this) in the meantime, while waiting for a response. Thanks in advance.
