2010 Ford Edge Intermediate outer shaft seal

I am looking for a seal for a 2010 Ford Edge FWD. This seal is in the passenger side between the CV axle and the outer shaft.

@ev1962. Kind of heard to visualize which seal you are looking for. Are you referring to something like the seal on the left hand side of the image on here?

Yes it is on the left hand side of the image. Its the carrier bearing seal.

@ev1962 the seal is just not listed in the parts catalog I have access to. All I can find is the complete assembly part number 8T4Z3A329A

Based on your description of the seal's location, the part you're looking for is likely the intermediate shaft seal for the front-wheel-drive (FWD) passenger side of a 2010 Ford Edge.

Here's the relevant information:

  • Part Number: The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part number for this seal is 5L8Z-4B416-AA.1 This number is often superseded or cross-referenced by other manufacturers.

*

  • Function: This seal prevents transmission or differential fluid from leaking out where the CV axle and intermediate shaft connect.2

*

  • Location: It's located in the transmission case, where the passenger-side intermediate shaft goes into the transmission. The CV axle then slides into the outer end of the intermediate shaft.

When searching for this part, you might also see it referred to as:

  • CV Axle Shaft Seal
  • Drive Axle Seal
  • Transmission Case Seal
  • Automatic Transmission Output Shaft Seal

To ensure you get the correct part, it's always best to provide your vehicle's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) to a parts counter or when using an online parts finder. This is the most accurate way to confirm compatibility.
