My Hp laptop turns off after a few minutes
My hp laptop always turns off by itself after a few minutes. I wanted to know what may cause this problem.

@josephbelle4326 could very well be heat related. If you are using Windows as your OS you can try and access the logs. Click your Start Button, then just type event and from the resulting list, open the Event Viewer. On the left in the Event Viewer, go to Windows logs - System, in there you should be able to see why it may shutdown. you can always post a copy of the log with your Question.
Make sure that you have your computer plugged in so as to rule out that this is a power issue. If this happens when it is plugged in as well as when it runs on battery only, you will have to dig deeper.
If you can't access the logs or if your computer shuts down before you can access, then you need to consider opening up your laptop, cleaning the air inlet/outlet as well as checking the fan. I also suggest that you apply new thermal paste.

Some of HP's machines do not shut off when they're due for paste too. My 640 G9 would ramp the fans up at the W11 login screen so that's how I knew it was due. I just had to buy new paste, but the machine kept going with the fan running aggressively for a 15W chip. Hard cutoffs are not always the way you know. THen again the 640 is a newer off lease machine whereas this is older and may not be as tolerant of needing maintenance.
The second I put fresh paste on the 640, it runs at 40-50C like they should.
