NEW IPad 3 4G touch not responding after digitizer replacement

Hey Guys,

I replaced the digitizer on a New iPad 64gb 3G and the touch has stopped working. I even tested the old digitizer and other replacement digitizers without success. I do not understand what has happened as i regularly replace iPad 2 screens without any issues. Has anybody successfully replaced new iPad Screens? because i cannot find any examples or solutions online

Where did you buy the digitizer?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

I bought it from china. I have since successfully fixed another iPad 3 with these screens. Maybe there is a issue with the connection on the motherboard?? What's a good way to clean it

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Use isopropyl alcohol on lint free cotton bud and run it over connectors

I just had this happen to me.

At first, after replacing the cracked cover/digitizer, the LCD was working but digitizer was not. It was late so I went to bed and left the ipad on my desk for a day or two. When I came back the LCD wasn't working. I charged the ipad and pressed the power button and still nothing.

Here is what I did:

1) Wimpered a bit.

2) Used air to blow out the connectors for the digitizer and LCD.

3) Used an LCD cloth to clean the ribbon cables, just the connector portion, making sure to rub towards the end that plugs into the connector...as not to damage the small copper connectors.

4) Prayed.

5) Inserted the digitizer ribbon cable into the connectors and used the plastic glass removal tool that came with the digitizer to carefully but firmly press the ribbon into the connector.

Tricky part. The digitizer I bought had lines demonstrating the depth to be inserted into the connector. I had to press the cable in until I couldn't see the lines anymore before the digitizer worked. Kinda nerve racking to be semi-forceful with delicate components. But I'm used to it since my girlfriend is 5'0. I digress...

6) Without completely reassembling the ipad I put the LCD into its compartment and the digitizer over the LCD just enough to have functionality of the omnipotent front button.

7) I pressed both the power button and front button at the same time and held them down for 15 seconds and voila!! Everything was back to normal.

I'm actually writing this on my ipad no more than 30 minutes after this repair. :)

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Stumbled on the same solutions and wished I read this thread first, was kinda worried for a bit.... they really gotta be jammed in deep, deeper than the LCD connection needs to be.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Thank you very much first digitiser didn't work but needed a new bezel anyway so ordered another +bezel didn't work again read this thread realigned ribbon into the plug an hey presto all working can't say thank you enough nice one !!! And I have a spare digitiser as well !

It was the part about pushing that ribbon in ALL THE WAY until the lines are no longer visible that fixed it. The prayers I'm sure helped, too.

Thanks for the advice.

the ribbon cables for the lcd and digitizer must be pushed right in...I mean right in... so you cant see the white line drawn on the outside of the ribbon connector. Then all will be ok...Well thats what worked for me

I think the problem is not the cleaning but the dust and wind.

I wold clean with LCD spray and good quality cloth - like the one you get with good screen protector.

But the work area must be clean.

Is the digitizer you bought good as the original.

Can you pass onthe link of the store?

have you tried the same digitizer on another ipad3, if it works, then you know its not the digitizer its the ipad itself, then you can check for any damage or them pesky little shards of glass getting in the way ( had it before - made a simple job very difficult)

The connectors are very touchy... obviously make sure they are all the way down and tape them. Additionally, I had to send back a replacement because it was a knock-off and lacked response... buy OEM to be sure. I did, and now it works fine.

This worked great. I replaced digitizer (Screen) and top right Antenna and screen was not working properly (3rd row from top was not responding). I also was having issues with the cameras (Front and Back). I cleaned and reinserted the Ribbon cables and everything worked great. Thanks a bunch!!!

Life saver!!!! Thanks matey.

These cheap Chinese screen cables for the digitizer need to be pushed all the way in as far as they will go, its a bit worrying as you could damage the ribbon cable or your logic board connector trying to get it in all the way.

Thanks matey.
