Black lines on screen when pressing glass chin bezel

Hi,

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 16” 2019 came with a broken glass bezel, I replace the bezel but I notice when I touch the left bottom side of the glass bezel a black line spears in the screen and appear also when grabbing ng the screen from the left side and apply for to the screen ( like lifting the laptop) can barely see the lines when using it, my question is if this issue is fixable or just leave it like that or may be something I can do to fix it?

Thank you!

Sadly, this systems display received damage at its most fragile area along the hinge. The fact the chin plate was damaged tells us something was left sandwiched between the case and lid so when the person closed the lid the weaker chin plate cracked but the force was still strong enough to go deeper damaging either the ribbon cables or the interface between the ribbon cables and the glass LCD panel cracking the metal oxide traces that power the vertical columns of the panel.

The only way to fix this is replacing the display assembly as seen in this guide MacBook Pro 16" 2019 Screen Replacement here's one source for the part UK - TheBookYard - 16" MacBook Pro, Complete Display assembly

Thank you @Dan !!

I may just use it like that since a new display will cost me more than the MacBook, I think you are right with your assumption about someone leaving something sandwiched between the screen and body is what cause the damage.

The black lines appearing when pressing the glass bezel on your MacBook Pro 16" (2019) likely indicate pressure damage or a partially failing LCD panel or connector. If the lines are only visible under pressure and not during regular use, it may not require immediate repair. However, if they worsen or become persistent, consider having the screen assembly or internal display cable professionally inspected or replaced. Avoid applying pressure to prevent further damage.

Thank you for your reply @Rashmi

I’ll avoid applying pressure or even holding the laptop from that side.. since Apple parts are so expensive I think I have to use the MacBook like that.

Again thank you
