Is my DC in toast?

My macbook only charges under certain angles which makes it impossible to use now… i was wondering if my dc in is the problem, and if i change it i would get any more life out of this macbook cause its still usable for me?

Ive added pics of DC in and my charger which i bought last year and is original

It looks like the cord magnets are still stuck within the systems side connection. If you look at the DC In-Board part you can see the face is smooth along the connectors surface (plastic) and doesn't have these four? magnet pieces stuck to them.

Carefully lift them off (currently stuck magnetically) or just replace the DC In-Board it does look like iFixit is out of stock here's a second source Unibody MacBook Pro 13"/15" DC-in/Magsafe Board (09-12)

oh, so the dc in might be still usable? how would i go about lifting these magnet pieces? just to be clear, by four magnet pices you mean the 4 yellow pins that are in the charging port of my macbook?

@rokurbanija - No it's not the yellow (gold) pins they are AOK! It's the metal blocks that surround the five pin pads in the plastic block within the systems connection hollow.

The best way to ID is use a steel paperclip which is attracted by a magnet. Touch the surfaces surrounding the the plastic block.

@danj oh okay i see the four magnet blocks. i took the part out but still not sure what should i do with the four block, sorry. could you elaborate please? i tried to pry them a little but they dont move, im not sure if im doing it correctly. thanks!

(i also cleaned it a little and put it back together but its still the same result)

@rokurbanija - Best to just replace the part as your images shows the contacts are a bit heat damaged. That can happen when the connection is not firm which is understandable here with the magnets getting in the way.

I've seen people glue them not understanding where they came from. So if removing the part you couldn't remove them (magnetically held) by sliding them off Vs pulling them may have been glued.

These magnets are part of the cord connection of some knockoff chargers. Not from the original one. Also make sure you have the correct charger as Apple produced two versions of MagSafe that look very similar! You need the older version not the one used by the Air or Retina models till 2015, since then Apple re-introduced the MagSafe with the newer M2 and newer systems, but it's very different.
