High pitched noise when spinning
Our 2yo washer has started this high pitched noise when it's spinning. I've asked a repair shop about it and they claim it can't be repaired and I need to buy a new one. I at least want to try and repair it myself. Anyone have a similar issue they repaired?

Hi @jays50728
What is the model number of the washer?
Does it do this on all spin speeds?

Sounds like a bearing is on the way out to be honest. Removing the top cover and running it on a spin might help in locating which one.

@jayeff It's an ELFW7637AT1 and yes it does it on all speeds but changes pitch as the speed increases.

My parents had a washer that started squealing, our hard water had congealed on the rubber bearing seal. The excess of hard water and the drying out caused squealing. But it could be a bearing like Ted mentioned, it may just need lubricant on the bearings. Your instruction manual should have a maintenance section &/or troubleshooting portion.
