HP's notebook comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, Nvidia Quadro K1000M GPU, and a HD+ display . This high functioning mobile workstation was released in 2012.

Laptop charging but not booting on

I've tried turning on the system after charging, but to no avail, even when I charge it, the light indicator is white showing that it's full but it doesn't turn on

Hi @ayeharcourt

Try a power refresh and check if that resolves the problem.

  • Disconnect the charger from the laptop (if connected) and remove the battery from the laptop.

Here's the maintenance and service guide for the laptop. Go to p.54 (62 of 181 pdf) to view the procedure to remove the battery

  • Press and hold the laptop's Power button for a full 30 seconds and then release it
  • Reinsert the battery into the laptop, connect the charger to the laptop and check if the laptop turns on etc.

If it still doesn't turn on, try a full power refresh.

  • Disconnect the charger from the laptop (if connected) and remove the battery from the laptop.
  • Disconnect the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard. Go to p.64 (72 of 181pdf) to view the procedure to remove the RTC battery

When the RTC battery is out, measure its voltage. If it is <2.5V DC or if the battery is >5 years old, replace it. Search online for 652650-001, to find battery suppliers that suit you best.

  • Press and hold the laptop's Power button for a full 30 seconds and then release it
  • Reconnect the RTC coin cell battery, reassemble the laptop, reinsert the main battery, reconnect the charger and check if it turns on.

If the laptop turns on OK etc, there may be a message stating that the date and time are incorrect. This is normal due to the BIOS being reset back to factory default by the above procedures. Once the date and time have been corrected, the message won't appear the next time that the laptop is started. Any user definable setting in BIOS that were changed by you, to suit whatever system requirements you needed, will have to be changed back again also.
