Electrolux EUCAIMLG A-1 during Fill

I have a Electrolux dishwasher model eucaimlg, and it has been started up after some months standstill. It starts fill and water temp goes from 16 to 18 and then it stops with message A-1. I have checked the overflow pipe, but cannot see any issues.

It is +10 years.  In addition I can mention that when I start the machine it takes about 10 minutes with filll and it seems that it stops just before heating part. Could it be a thermostatic issue?

Hi @mrhanson

According to the service manual an A-1 error code is a water fill problem i.e it is taking too long to fill.

Go to p.119 of 126 to view the possible causes for the error code to occur.

I don't know the model but here's a parts list that may help to find the location of the components mentioned as possible problems so that you can check if they're OK or not

If you find the problem and it is a faulty part that needs replacing, search online for Electrolux (insert part number of faulty part as shown in the parts list) to find suppliers that suit you best. For example, the water inlet filter (see p.5 for location and p.12 for part number) is parts diagram #461 part # 048834 (examples only to show part)

Hi Jayeff

Thanks so much for the answer and links.

Even though it is not mentioned in the A-1 fault description, I unplugged the temp probe on the boiler (because it seems filling water, but A-1 is shown when I expect it to start heating water). I took my multimeter and made a beep test, which failed, and resistance shows infinite. Water temperature is around 15 degrees celsius, so it would be fair to say that this (NTP I think) sensor is defect, right?

@mrhanson

If the temp sensor (link just to show image of the sensor) you removed is part #522 (see p.6 of parts list) then it's an NTC type i.e. Negative Temperature Coefficient, which means as the temp goes up, its resistance value goes down, but it should never test open circuit.

How long does it take for the boiler to fill?

Looking at the Boiler Filling Timeout parameter (see p.10 of the service manual), the factory default time setting is 5 minutes and if it hasn't filled in this time an A-1 alarm is shown.

Hi Jayeff.

Yes, this is exactly the sensor I found as well, and it is definitely open circuit measured.

After I start the machine it takes about 5-10 minutes until A-1 alarm is raised (it seems to depend how much water is already in the machine from previous run (I just try to rerun the same program).

I just tried to loosen the NTC sensor (#522) a bit and water is dropping out, so it seems to be full.

@mrhanson

Perhaps check what the various boiler settings are set at - see p.11 as relating to p.10.

If it is taking longer than 5 minutes and the boiler fill setting is for 5 minutes then you may have 2 problems i.e. faulty sensor and a boiler fill time problem.

It shouldn't take more than this amount of time to fill if the water supply is at 5L/m, probably less if there's already some water left in there.

Hi Jayeff

Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like there could be 2 problems, I will check the boiler fill time limit in the weekend and make a few tests to see if it corresponds :)

Have a great weekend
