Why is my washing machine so loud?

I have a Whirlpool WTW4816FW1 top load washer, it works but it has became very loud on the spin cycle.

The washer has been doing this for a few months now.

Does anyone what the issue can be? There are no vibrations, it’s just really noisy.

Checked, belt looks good and belt guard looks fine too. No vibrations, just very noisy.

Clutch looks okay, washer makes no noise on wash cycle it’s only loud when spinning.

Not the belt or the clutch that only leaves the transmission or the motor

My Kenmore washer is doing the same thing

Hi @dancing1020

Check if the drive belt has moved and is rubbing the belt guard and causing the noise.

If it is this could be caused by a loose nut on the yellow transmission drive pulley causing it to wobble slightly, causing the belt to move position.

Here's a video that shows how to replace the drive belt which will allow you to check if all is OK or not

Update (04/15/25)

Hi @dancing1020

Check if the splines on the clutch assembly are stripped.

Here's a link with a video that may help.

If it is search online for W10721967 to find suppliers that suit you best.
