Installing a new SDD
Anyone have any luck upgrading to an SSD on the nc8430? It’s just not working for me, I’ve tried two different SSD’s, I keep getting a “disk error” when reinstalling windows xp.

Hi @steveb3915
Not sure if the setting is there but try either disabling sata native mode in BIOS and then install Win XP, or slipstream the sata AHCI drivers into the Win XP installation media

Tried the Bios setting, it didn't help. I tried the slipstream method with nlite, didn't work, was unsure where to put the AHCI drivers. Also, I believe I had the wrong driver, I will try again with the drivers you pointed me to. Thanks!

Hi @steveb3915
Are the SSDs being shown as detected in BIOS > System information?
When does the "disk error message" appear during the installation procedure e.g. at the start, part way through etc?

SSD is not being detected in Bios at all. I am able to, format, copy drivers and everything to prepare for the Winxp pro install, but when it reboots to actually install Winxp, I immediately get the "disk error message. the last SSD I tried, was a Samsung 512gb.
