Updated version of the 2016 Retina MacBook. Model A1534, EMC 3099. Now features faster Kaby Lake processors up to 1.4 GHz Core i7 with Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz and up to 50 percent faster SSD, and supports up to twice the memory.

Replaced battery, not charging today

I replaced the battery with an iFixit battery yesterday. At first it did not seem to charge, but I followed these instructions to reset the SMC, PRAM, and NVRAM, after it rebooted, it charged up fine.

I checked with Coconut battery, it showed 2 cycles, and 103% health when I went to bed. Per the iFixit calibration card, I left the MacBook on to drain the battery.

Today, the MacBook battery is indeed dead, but does not seem to charge. I left it plugged in for 4-5 hours, tried a different charger and cord. Using 100W charger, and a couple of different USBC cables. I tried resetting the SMC, PRAM, and NVRAM again, but I don't even get the startup chime.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Give this a try, disconnect the battery from the logic board, now press and hold the power button for a good 20 sec’s. Reconnect the battery and plug in the charger. See if that does it. One of the problems in this series is you really don’t want to fully discharge the battery as the logic needs a bit of power just for the charging logic to respond.

If that fails you’ll need to get a fresh battery.
