@bethran could be a bad keyboard or a loose keyboard cable. Let us know if you have tried to use your keyboard while using your laptop outside the OS, i.e. use it in the BIOS or even when you use a Linux, or other OS live CD, that you can boot from the USB drive. I am sure you have used an external keyboard. Let us know if that works properly. If it does work, then it could be a BIOS issue or a CMOS Battery issue. See if replacing the battery resolves this.
Since iFixit does not yet have a specific guide for that, use something like this video to get into your computer. Once the bottom cover is removed you will see the CMOS battery in the holder on the main board, it looks like a CR2032.
If replacing that battery does not work then you need to consider having to replace the keyboard. Officially, it is part of the top case (palmrest). This guide ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DY Keyboard Replacement is a slightly different model but essentially it will be the ame work. Some of the screws etc. might be in different areas so just work a bit cautiously to make sure everything that needs to be removed gets removed :-)
As for the keyboard, it is considered part of the top case since it is held in place be numerous plastic "rivets". If you want to, you can actually snap those off (or carefully drill them out) to remove the keyboard from the top case. Then use a replacement keyboard and use some small screws that you place where the plastic rivets have been, to old that in place. Only problem with that is that you have to make sure that the screws are not to long to actually go through the top case. I've never had much luck with gluing it in place.
