drain cycle keeps starting and stopping

I'm trying to determine if the water level/temp controller (#W10248240 REv. G) is bad on my Maytag MVWC6ESWW1 washer. All cycles run normally except drain. The drain cycle runs for about 5 seconds, stops for 3 to 5 minutes, the repeats until the tub is drained. Then the next wash cycle starts and runs normally until the next drain cycle where the problem repeats. All drain hoses, internal and external, are clear all the way back to the pump. Lid switch is good. Any suggestions?

A washer typically stops draining when the water level in the drum reaches a pre-set low point, which is detected by a pressure switch that signals the drain pump to turn off; essentially, once most of the water is drained, the pressure switch activates, telling the washer to stop the draining cycle.

Check the hose to the pressure switch to insure it is intact, clear and not loose. Then replace the switch.

Hi @mikearthur66760

It could be a faulty pump.

The pump clips onto the front of the motor and it could be slipping or jamming perhaps.

If it is the problem search online for WP3363394 to find suppliers that suit you best. (link just to show image of the pump how it fits onto the motor spindle)
