Released in May 2020, the 13" MacBook Pro features quad-core Intel 10th generation Core i5 and i7 processors, and Intel Iris Plus integrated graphics. (Model A2251/EMC3348 with four Thunderbolt 3 ports)

New battery won't charge

During the process of replacing my battery, the battery board cable broke. I replaced the cable with this one from Amazon: https://a.co/d/3S4QvuP However, now it won't charge. The machine boots up fine but the battery doesn't charge. I've doubled checked the power and data connections and they appear solid. I'm wondering if it's the cable or how I inserted it. The leads face up, right? I clamped the plastic locks on both end and it appears secure. Any suggestions?

I would start off installing this gem of an App CoconutBattery make sure you install the correct version for you version of macOS. That should validate if you’ve connected the cable correctly.

I’m not sure in your picture if you’ve set the cables latches. Reference Step 10 in this guide MacBook Pro 13" Four Thunderbolt Ports 2020 Battery Replacement in this step the ZIF latch is releasing the compression onto the ribbon cable. Also make sure the surfaces are clean and there is no damage or creases within the ribbon cable.

@craiga40961 - Well it does appear the battery cable is damaged or one of the sockets is, or it’s likely the battery is just bad.

We can see the battery status bars are not working as SMC is not getting its data. The static data is being held so at one point it was working.

You may want to see if you can get a replacement battery to remove that possibility. I would also get another cable as well.
