Brewing unit not fitting properly

My melitta caffeo barista T I can’t get the brewing unit fully in.. it slides over the wheel easily and I am able to lock the handle. But it isn’t being recognised as inserted. When it’s as far as I am able to insert it there is a small gap so the 2 small stumps don’t push the retracting pins into the roller to push the roller cover to the right. I’ve reset the cog wheel inside the machine madr sure there no dirt etc. the circle with the bump that’s has to be at 3oclock is fine. I’ve lubricated with food silicone, cooking oil after cleaning the unit. Google said to make sure the sensor is clean but I’ve no idea where that is or what it looks like. I’ve always struggled with getting it back in but this time I’ve been trying for three days now. I’m a 79 old old female don’t know the jargon for the bits and my hands are a bit arthritic . So if someone could point me in the direction of this sensor that has to be triggered to accept the unit or tell me that the stumpy things should not be visible looking through where the tray goes. If it is that then I will ask a young fellow neighbour to give i a push, I have btw had it next to a wall to push unit in and I just can’t get it any further the gap is wider than the length of the stumps. 🤞🤞🤞🤞 for any help. Hope you understand

Than you for your reply, I found the sensor but I can’t get it to move, maybe I can’t press hard enough. But playing with that metal thing that goes in the hole I think it moves the motor to righ position the same as pressing power and my coffee together. If I’m right that doesn’t work to get the brewing unit in. The wheel, looks to be right after setting it with those two button and the unt bit that fits on it is at 3 o’clock. The u nit slides over the wheel the tube thing with the red washer part goes into its hole but won’t go further. It feels like it’s hit an obstruction but can move the handle and put it in lock but cosunit is not all the way in it’s not recognised. I can’t find what t could be stopping it. It feels like it may be the metal thing . Do you think it may be I’m not strong enough to bash it in, I could ask a male neighbour to try. I’ve tried putting it against the wall and putting all my weight into it in but still not fully in. It’s never slid i had to really force it. I use lube ty

@rose10230 Perhaps we should seek the issue in the brewing unit itself? Perhaps you can find any person with a Torx 10 screwdriver, who is able to open and revise it? We have a guide for this. Other options: find a person with the same brewing unit for testing. The brewing units from Melitta, Nivona, some Bosch and Siemens fit, they are all produced in the same factory. Last possibility: try a new one, but this is rather expensive. Good luck!

Take a look at this picture. There are five yellow circles. The sensor - a microswitch - is located in the recess directly below the top right-hand mark. Use your fingertip to feel it clicking. Press it with a toothpick or similar tool, the machine then "thinks" that the brewing unit is installed. The drive moves to the home position, after which the brewing unit should fit again.

I found a video.

Sorry to be a pain. I’ve had a friend look at it with me and he discovered the micro switch had moved so the metal thing that the handle moves is unable to connect to the switch. He couldn’t move it he thinks it’s broken bit off. Do I search for a “brewing unit position sensor”. And also I can’t find a post that shows how to replace it could you point me in right direction. I’m so grateful 👏

Oh no you're not a pain, its a pleasure if I can help.

From your description I fear, we have a bigger issue...If there is no possibility to set the sensor through the opening, the machine has to be opened and the drive must be removed. The sensor is a simple and cheap microswitch. You can see it here:

, the right-hand little white box. If you are lucky, it just can be pressed in again, hopefully there is not broken anything else. Use the guide for Siemens (which I already gave the link) to remove the drive. Here more pictures: Drive and Microswitch Cherry DX41. I hope you will find anybody to do the fix and wish you good luck - Greetings from Germany.
