Lid Lock only works on drain/spin cycle.

I have a Hotpoint washer HTW240ASK6WS. Recently the lid lock only works on the drain/spin cycle. After tub fills, agitator goes very slow and lid lock not locked. I have to move dial to drain/spin (only place lid lock works) in order to get water out and clothes spun. I am running out of clean clothes!!

Perhaps this isn't the correct forum. I was looking for someone who might know what is wrong. I am in no shape to take this washer apart and test stuff. Thanks to jeff for responding.

Here's the mini manual for the washer.

Zoom in to suit and then scroll down to p.2 to the Field Service Mode Entry section to view the procedure to test all the functions of the washer.

If there's an error code being displayed for a particular step during the tests, there's an Binary Display Fault Chart, (left side on p.1) which shows how to interpret the cycle status lights to know what number the code is.

Above the chart there's a list of the codes, a description and repair checks.

If you find the problem and it is a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the manufacturer's part number for the part that is shown with it. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

You don't have to take it apart.

Just run the tests and check what error codes show and then report back for more help.

You're in the best position to test it using the manual for a guide. At least then it narrows it down to what the problem may be.

For anyone else, at this stage it would be just guesswork
