Samsung RF27T5241SR/AA Freezer Not Cold Enough

I am experiencing the same exact problem with a Samsung model RF27T5241SR/AA. Unit is less than 2 years old. I've tried all the above fixes. Replaced defrost and temp sensors. Fan is running. Nothing freezing up. Nothing works.

When I do a hard reset the panel temp reads correctly, matching actual freezer temp. I watch the temp drop on the panel and compare with TWO manual thermometers in the freezer. The panel temp matches the actual freezer temp as it drops until it reaches approx 25F. At that point the freezer actual temp stays between 25F and 30F. The panel continues to show dropping temps to what ever the set point is (i've tried settings from 0F to -8F.)

So frustrating. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You!!

Hi @pete89027

When the actual freezer temp reaches 25°F and stays there, does the compressor keep operating or does it stop?

Yes, compressor still runs. Fridge maintains a constant 40F. Both fans in fridge and freezer are working. Unit is not freezing up. It's like the "brain" on the board has relearned to change its resistance scale once it hits a freezing temp. So frustrating. Also sounds like this is happening in other samsung fridge/freezers.

Hi @pete89027

Here's the service manual that may help.

Go to p.72 and check if performing the procedure as shown in Sect. 5-1-3. Test mode (manual operation / manual defrost function) 1). Manual operation function (Force Run) and check if the freezer temp reaches the correct temp.

There is what is known as a Step Valve (example only) that is used to control the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator unit.

When the temp is incorrect i.e. 25°F also try Sect. 5-1-5. Display function of Load condition on p.82 to see if the F-Valve is open - see p.83 #18. I think that this is the step valve and hopefully not the water inlet valve if there is one for the ice maker

Might explain why the temp doesn't go lower but doesn't explain the display showing the incorrect temp. Maybe there are two problems. Hopefully not.

Fridges are getting too complicated ;-(
