Dead MacBook Air trying to recover data

Hello, I was wondering if there was a special tool to recover data off of a not booting M1 MacBook Air 2020.

Since the SSD is soldered to the motherboard I can't retreive data the traditionnal ways.

I saw a tool that could connect to a special interface on a Macbook Pro but I was wondering if there was one on this macbook air 2020 I got

I tried thru target disk mode and all i get is a beep when connecting to power. Nothing on screen because its broken since the laptop dropped on it's corner.

I have been a self employed technician since 2000 and now I must migrate and learn the new ways.. thank you for the help!!

Sadly, there is no means to recover the data with the logic board in this state. The M1 SoC chip does two actions, the first it’s the Flash chips controller and it also encrypts the data on the Flash chips so the data can’t be recovered if you were to try transferring the chips to a second system either.

But before you start crying into your beer!

Are you sure the logic board can’t be repaired? While Apple won’t do it there are others with the skills, tool and even parks that might be able to resurrect your system from the grave. Depending on what’s damaged it might only offer a small window to backup your stuff or it could be a full repair!

So… where do you live? Country and nearest major city. Maybe we can aim you to someone.
