Unfortunately there are several possible reasons for your airbag light to be blinking. It's obviously indicating a problem, and chances are the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident, so this is something you should address immediately.
A common cause of airbag lights can be a problem with the seatbelt sensors; if one of the wires breaks then the SRS system can't determine whether the seatbelt is in use or not; there also could be sensors to determine if someone is sitting in a given seat which can also suffer from being damaged or disconnected. The clockspring connector in the steering wheel could fail, as could the impact sensors
So yeah, there are any number of things that can go wrong with your airbag system and sorry to say that the blinking light doesn't give us any idea where the problem lies. For that you will need to get the car scanned with a professional grade scantool; the everyday OBD-II scanners aren't capable of reading airbag information so places like auto parts stores aren't going to be able to help.
I hate having to refer people to professionals, but in this case you're almost certainly going to have to pay someone to scan your airbag system to find out what the problem is. Once you have the results of the scan then at that point we might be able to help you repair something but until then the best we could do is guesswork, which we prefer not to do.

I had this problem with my 2011 M3. It turned out to be a loose connector on the module under the passenger seat.
My scanners can do airbag checks, but it's not something you speculate on.
