EPSON ET-2760, suddenly no power after printhead deep clean.

I was having issues with my EPSON ET-2760 tank printer not printing most of the colors but primarily cyan, no problem clean the printhead put it back in still not doing it for the cyan. take the head back out do a deep cleaning soaked it overnight and then let it dry for three days. Put it back in and turn the printer back on, started a printhead clean and a minute later the entire thing was dead and wouldn't turn back on. Power supply is good so does this mean the main board died? Took the print head out still can't get it to turn on. It was briefly working doing a nozzle clean and I turned away and came back and it was like it got unplugged.

My head cleaning process is to do a nozzle check followed by a nozzle clean followed by a check. If that doesn't do it, take the head out and clean it with alcohol and cotton swabs. Step three is to check the ink is making it through the tubes and check that ink is getting into the cartridges then repeat step one. if still not working I try to put a little alcohol into the cartridges to flush through the print head to break anything up that might be on the opposite side. Then the final one if none of that works just take the whole head out and let it soak in a bath of warm water and dish soap then thoroughly dry reinsert and go back to step one.

How much cleaning fluid did you use when you did the manual clean? Generally, unless the printer has been sitting for years at a time (or you found it in a thrift store, which is almost certainly a surefire way to know you have a horrible clog that will be harder to clear), you usually do not need to use a lot of cleaning fluid -- just a few mL of the liquid. I suspect the fluid got onto the motherboard or power supply, as the power supply on many of these Epsons is sealed but not completely protected from ink/liquid penetration.

It's been a good minute since I had an Epson printer, but their newer units (2010+) have a screw on the back for the power supply you remove. You can dislodge the power supply -- however, this is based on the cart units, which are a little different than the modern "ET-" printers compared to the early units we had in the US, which were hacked together with the ink chip monitor deleted (and likely programmed to 100% permanently). These also have a line-in box for the fax module, which may cause the same problem if it gets damaged (even if you do not use it).

I would first see if the power supply is clear -- if it is, it's probably fine, but you may want to mentally prepare to potentially have to replace it as it's in the line of fire of the ink path on most Epsons. Depending on the hardening of these newer Epsons (which, compared to the old days, is a lot more hardened due to the modern ink DRM; it's hopefully removed with "ET-" firmware but Epson might just permanently set the ink levels to 100% like the early units or they disabled the stop print "feature"), you can potentially disconnect and delete the fax module if you do not use it and that fixes it; however, the hardened firmware may throw a fit.

If the power supply is fine but a damaged fax card is causing problems, try to run the printer without it connected if it operates without it. If it works, remove it from the printer to avoid confusion (and put a label over the RJ-11 ports!).

Didn't use professional cleaner just took the whole print head out and stuck it in a dish of warm soapy water probably about a quarter of an inch half an inch and let it sit overnight. So that was the only part that got wet. Printer was working a week prior just having trouble with one color.

This is one of the eco tank models, it's kind of like the regular ones but with built-in ink reservoir system basically with internal cartridges. Refill and reset then guesstimates off usage?

Can't remember I think I tested the power supply and it was functioning which makes me believe the mainboard died.

I needed to get back here and reply. Found out that there's a pairing/ underline firmware process for the bored ... great... so even if I got a replacement it probably wouldn't work as I would need certified microcode and it would probably not be worth the cost. On the upside the parts company I emailed was very helpful they were listed on epsons website.

Fax module interesting, otherwise I feel like I kill my printers
