Screen Replacement or Upgrade.

I have an hp omen 16-WD0036XD the screen is broken.

it currently has a 16.1" FHD 250 nit 144hz display. The manual lists 3 different displays and i was wondering if i can purchase a 16.1" QHD 300nit 240hz display to replace it if they both have a 40 pin connector, or would that cause issues/ just not work?

@caseypayne the only way you could be absolutely certain, would be by comparing the circuit diagram of the individual screens. Those are of course not available to us. What that means, is that you will have to go ahead and try it. In the past it seems like anyone who has tried an upgrade within the same model of computer, was successful. I wouldn't be surprised if it works for you as well. Only challenge might be the BIOS, so you may have to update that as well. Give it a try and let us know how it worked out.

See if this Maintenance And Service Guide is helpful with the actual screen replacement.

I know with LVDS it required a cable change but if it was sanctioned, it worked. I remember when I did this with an LVDS E6440 which had a bad 768p screen. I fit a 900p screen in with the cable without issue. With iDP you can usually reuse all but the screen but YMMV.
