How to bypass password?

Hi all,

Recently I purchased a faulty 2020 27" iMac from eBay (dead PSU). Upon replacing this and booting it up, I realised that you can't just wipe it and reinstall the operating system without the login password.

If I swap out the SSD will this bypass the password?

It is not a firmware password by the way - I am able to boot into recovery mode.

Thanks!

If it’s just a user account you can boot up from an external drive with macOS and then reformat the internal drive which will wipe it out and all of the data held.
