Released in North America in November 2006, the Wii was Nintendo's first home console to directly support Internet connectivity, supporting both online games and digital distribution of games and media applications through the Wii Shop Channel.

I had a Wii that was stuck in a loop of spitting the disc out and drawing it back in without being able to load. So I opted to just swap out the drive itself. Grabbed a kit from ifixit and swapped out the drive. Now it’ll hold the disc in and when I get to the game I’ll hit start and then this happens

An error has occurred. Press the eject button, remove the game disc and turn the power off. Please read the Wii operations manual for more information.

Did I do something wrong? Is there something wrong with the drive? How can I fix this?

Check the disk is the correct region for the wii and not damaged.

It’s possible the new drive also has an issue depending where you got it from bare that in mind.

This problem could also be the wii itself. Do you know it’s history? It’s possible it was soft modded and restored to stock badly.

One thing you could try replacing if you haven’t is the ribbon cable to the drive.
