Logitech M317c and some external devices behave erratically

Hi, I currently have a Logitech M317c mouse connected to a USB hub, and the mouse tends to be acting erratically fairly often. Since I hate the trackpad on this Mac, the only solution I've heard of was to put the dongle into a USB extension cable, but I've noticed that at least one of my external hard drives will randomly disconnect whenever I'm not using the machine, so I'm curious about that one too.

One time, the external drive in question dropped off of the system, and I got a message saying that it was "drawing too much power." Is there any way to fix the two problems? I'm using an Anker USB hub and the HeyDey AD2C USB hub to connect the mouse's dongle, and 3 USB hard drives. Thanks

As you are sharing the same USB hub you can encounter issues as MacBook Pro’s USB ports power support is a bit limited. And the choppy response is likely while the drive/s are in heavy I/O processes.

Best to use either an independently powered hub or Drive/s. What I prefer is use the other sides port for the mouse using a USB A SOCKET TO USB TYPE C PLUG to plug the dongle into. You can also find a short cable unit as well so it doesn’t stick out as far. So the mouses needs are independent of the drives.
