KTC Tv locked out of service

Hello friends.i bought a chinese KTC tv which after a few months popped up a message that the tv is out of service and to call the vendor. I talked with KTC and told me the vendor didnt pay fhem and they locked the tvs. And this happened after a update on 01/07/2024. Since i have paied to buy it and i want my tv for my kids how could i bypass it? Resetting everything with factory reset didnt help. Trying to find older firmware but i can't find it anywhere. Please help.

@antonistsi30573 you can't. Of course, you can always try a different main board (one that is not locked) but you can't unlock yours. It is the person that you bought it from that is not paying the rightful owners. That means it is absolutely not your fault, but you are the one that is now stuck with a non-working TV. Post a couple of good pictures of your boards so that we can see what you see and maybe find a compatible board for your TV.

Well it's possible to either replace the main chips ic in the locked board

or programe an universal tv board which is available now days

@kjelectronics I was thinking replacing the EEPROM on the main board. I would not be surprised if they are holding the firmware hostage in the EEPROM :-)

@oldturkey03 There's probably a way to disable the backdoor by reverse engineering the firmware as well. Sorry not sorry, but a killswitch for nonpayment is a big issue for me; punish the account holder by blocking them from new purchases until paid up, but don't punish the customer.

I get it, the product costs them and they lose the cost of the product -- but the buyer loses, the reseller doesn't care. The reseller took the money and ran. If KST let the innocent party use the TV when they are made aware, then I'd have more sympathy for them.
