Start computer without power button

I have the power button not working and the options starting computer with opening the lid or pluging the charger are disabled on nvram.

I ve read about a solution to unplug yhe battery and then plug in the charger and the computer will run.

Will this work or damage the mother board?

All macs since 15 years autostart if you plug valid power supply with if no battery is present.
by valid i mean the one with enough power rating, in your case 60W or more.
this will not damage the motherboard. you can unplug battery flex cable, plug power supply and carefully plug battery back in. however, Trackpad / Lid Power trigger should work unless there is some other issue with the device.

So the laptop should start after i plug the power supply or after i plug battery back in?

@chihabeddi53934 - Almost! There are two provisos here. The first is first fully discharging the logc board by disconnecting the battery and charger, then press and hold the power button a good 15secs. The second is plugging in the charger not the battery as it won’t likely have enough power.

The power button is already not working so i cant try any procedure including a power button step!.

The method of disconnecting the battery is good, but i dont know if the computer will turn on after the 2nd step ( steps mentionned above ) or after the 3rd .

All this is to turn on the computer and set nvram settings to default ( starts on opening the lid)

Thanks for your time

@chihabeddi53934 - To be clear it’s SMC not NVRAM that is related to the power aspects and how TouchID controls access. It sounds like the button is physically broken or not the mated one to the systems logic board.

I changed the setting by typing in the termina " sudo nvram autoboot =%00"

The fingerpring scan is working but the button is not hence my problem.
