Hi @rorymccarthy,

What is the model number of the TV?

Can you view the TV menu screens OK?

If you can't see the TV menus:

With the TV turned on and audio being heard, try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the screen and check if you can see images on the screen. They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.

If you can see images then there's a backlight problem with the screen.

If you can see the TV menu screens:

What is the source and connection type of the video/audio signal e.g. TV antenna, cable box, streaming device etc, HDMI, RF, AV connection?

@rorymccarthy we do need to know the exact model for your Blaupunkt. Start off by turning the TV to a channel where you can hear the sound. Next, use a flashlight and shine the beam at an angle against the screen. Do that in a darkened room. See if you can make out shadows or shapes. If you do, then it is your backlight that has failed. If you do not see anything, unplug your set and remove the back cover. Then visually check the boards for any obvious damaged components. Check all the wiring and unplug the wires and plug them back in, make sure they are properly seated. Post some images of all of your boards with your question. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that so we can see what you see.

Hi everyone,

I’ve the same issue with a Blaupunkt 39210J led tv. Display seems to be off, I can hear sound. Using the flashlight as suggested in a dark room I can see the shadows of the pictures. The weird thing, if I press twice the button DISPLAY on the remote control the display switch on for a couple of seconds then switch off.

Thanks!

@alex73286 yup, you have an issues with your backlight strips. This "the display switch on for a couple of seconds" is normal for a failed strip. That is the difference between teh srip having failed or the backlight not getting powe. Time to replace those :-)

@oldturkey03 , thank you very much for your fast diagnosis. Is replacing the backlight strips an easy operation that I can perform by myself?

Thanks

@alex73286 it is not very difficult, just tedious. You will need a person to help you removing the actual LCD panel since those are thinner than you'd expect and they do love to flex, which is a big No No. It'll be similar to LG 55UH6150 backlight LED replacement and Panasonic TV tx-32e302b led backlight strips Replacement There are even a couple of YT videos by Shopjimmy that explain the process. Different make and model but same idea.
