Can I use the LCD on this iMac for another iMac?

Hi there,

I have a 21.5" iMac Late 2009 A1311 and I was wondering what iMacs are compatible with the lcd screen that this iMac uses, since my friend has a 21.5" iMac 2011 that requires an lcd screen and I don't know if this one would work or not.

Thank You

Sorry no. Apple loves to make things different!

Here’s the 2009 part Apple P/N 661-5303, LM215WF3(SL)(A1)

Here’s the 2011 part Apple P/N 661-5934, LM215WF3 (SD)(C2)

@drelmoh you can't (Plug and Play;-). The 2009 LM215WF3 (SL)(A1) use an 8 Bit 2 port LVDS interface
and the 2011 LM215WF3 (SD)(C2) use an 8 bit 4Lane Display port interface. Not compatible with each other.

Now, with that said, if you want to get really inventive, there are LVDS to DP adapter boards that might just work for you :-)
