If there is no water/ice in the ice maker or if it is not working, first check if the freezer door switch is electrically OK and not that one set of contacts in the switch is corroded etc..
By design the ice maker does not function when the freezer door is open.
The freezer door switch is a changeover type switch which when the freezer door is opened, it releases to turn the freezer light on and the ice maker off and when the door is closed it re-operates to turn off the light and reconnect the power to the ice maker. It is the ice maker that turns the water inlet solenoid valve on and off as required.
Be safety aware if you decide to test if the switch is OK as there is 120V AC on the switch. It may be safer to disconnect the power to the refrigerator and use an Ohmmeter instead.
If the switch is faulty, search online for 12002646 to find suppliers that suit you best.
If the water inlet valve is faulty, search online for WP67003753 to find suppliers that suit you best.
