If there is no water/ice in the ice maker or if it is not working, first check if the [link|https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7QQ8Y97Fog|freezer door switch] is electrically OK and not that one set of contacts in the switch is corroded etc..
By design the ice maker does not function when the freezer door is open.
-This is a changeover type switch which when the freezer door is opened, it releases to turn the freezer light on and the ice maker off and when the door is closed it re-operates to turn off the light and reconnect the power to the ice maker. It is the ice maker that turns the water inlet solenoid valve on and off as required.
