Released in May 2020, the 13" MacBook Pro features quad-core Intel 8th generation Core i5 and i7 processors, and Intel Iris Plus 645 integrated graphics. (Model A2289/EMC3456 with two Thunderbolt 3 ports)

Oh Boy! Not good😖

The display panel its self has a collection of thin contacts along the bottom edge. What can happen is during the manufacturing process one of the connector breaks free we call this a TAB error. If its more than one line it could be the Chin plate at the bottom of the display got smashed in so one of the glass shards cut the ribbon cable.

Sadly, you will need a new display assembly to fix it or just live with it. I would visit an Apple Store if you still have warranty coverage or enrolled in AppleCare as that would be a free repair. Otherwise it's a bit of $$$

I added a picture in my original post. I think it is more than one line?!

@dernerl - Sadly it does!

Are you using a clip-on shell or glued-on camera cover? They both can press on the display panel in such a way as to damage it as your image shows.

Apple even put out a warning about these as they tightened the air gap between the case and lid

no, nothing like that. I already live with that like a year.

In any case, thank you very much for the technical background to my error!
