Keyboard and trackpad not working, but the power button is working.

I have recently bought my first ever ifixit tool kit and I was finally able to open up my macbook. I've been wanting to do this for a while because the back cover seemed a little bent so I wanted to see what was going on.

So I removed the back cover using an iFixit guide. When I had it removed I just looked at all the components (I mainly wanted to see if the bend in the back cover might have come from a battery issue) but I couldn't find anything.

I removed a bit of dust from the now loose back cover - not from any of the components.

Then I put it all back together, started the MacBook back up and discovered that my keyboard and trackpad had stopped working! The power button still works fine though.

I have no idea what I might've done wrong so if anybody on here could maybe help me out I'd be very happy :)

Did you make sure the system was fully off per the guide?

Could you have inserted the knife or pick to far along the sides snagging the logic board?

What is your climate? Dry or humid. The reason I ask this is the time of year we get our heating systems going so the air is dry which then allows static charge to build up in our cloths and rugs. Did you work on a anti-static mat that was properly grounded?

Thanks for your reply!

Yes I turned the system off and disabled autoboot.

I don't think I damaged the logic board as I used those small blue plastic opening picks included in the pro tech toolkit. (But is there a way to check if I maybe still did?)

I live in central europe so it's neither particularly dry or humid. I used the included anti-static wrist strap for grounding. And everything else seems to be working, booting is normal and the display is working aswell.
