Everything works in 45 degrees, but when fully open screen is frozen.

Hello all

My macbook is working in 45degrees angle. When fully open, screen is frozen but keyboard and mouse works in the background.

Tried all the tests and reinstalled OS. Nothing helps.

Has this anything to do with flexgate?

The screen doesn’t go black, only frozen.

I can type in frozen screen, but nothing comes up. As soon I put the screen to the certain angle, every character comes up.

Don’t know if you can see the videos I attached.

Thanks

Wow that’s something new!

Can you still type on the keyboard getting them to respond? Also connect an external mouse to see if that works. Both of these tests can help us understand where we need to look.

Update (10/02/23)

@kenanahmet27525 - this sounds like a damaged logic board connector or the ribbon cable so the connection is lost.

Inspect the trackpad connector and cable you may need to replace the cable MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Touch Bar, Late 2016-2020) Trackpad Cable this cable carries both he keyboard and trackpad signals. It’s also possible a liquid spill could be source of your problems.

No, the screen is frozen. I can type when fully open and everything is working in the background..but can’t see it, set the screen to 45 and see everything that has been moves or typed.

Ext mouse or key not working when frozen. Cursor litterally stops flashing.

Thanks.

Maybe, but why is the cursor frozen..when screen is fully open?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@kenanahmet27525 - The T-CON logic buffers the screens data so the loss of new data either the image and/or the curser will still save to a file if that is what you are pointing out. It’s just you can’t see the interaction as the Image is frozen.

To be clear I’m trying to deduce if the keyboard/trackpad input is the source or something deeper like a liquid spill. Which you won’t know until you open things up.

@danj Ah ok. New parts ordered. LVDS and trackpad flex cable. I will test it tomorrow. I will write back. Thanks

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@kenanahmet27525 - The display cable (technically not LVDS, as the signaling is now iDP) won’t change things here as it just jumps the signal across to the T-CON board within the main case area. The T-CON cables to the discrete LCD panel would be the cables which if damaged would need replacing. But that is not the case here as you would encounter odd video artifacts, not a frozen screen.

This is more likely something within the logic board.
