upgrade to more modern logic board a1278

hi

I bought a MacBook Pro a1278 primarily as a DVD player but am a writer and love the case, keyboard etc

can you get a more modern logic board that would work with this chassis?

I have tried google without success!

@trencesmith unfortunately you cannot. The issue is that Apple keeps on changing the layout of the logic boards. Connectors, cables, RAM , etc are all different and in different locations etc. The only close board that will fit is the Mid-2012. It needs some minor mod on the LVDS connector since it is a little to wide for this board MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.9 GHz Logic Board Cost, amount of work etc are all a factor on this. You really will only have minor performance improvement. So, you are kind of (mostly) stuck with what you got. Keep using and enjoying it for the purpose you bought it for, "primarily as a DVD player"
