Is it ok that this piece is ripped from my logic board?

I just took the bottom cover off of my Macbook because for reasons that don't matter. When i took the panel off, i noticed that the connector that I highlighted in the photo below is ripped clean off of the logic board.

I got scared that I had broken that piece while removing the cover panel, and so I re-assembled right away. It turns on and runs just fine, so I'm wondering what that connector is for and if I should expect something bad to happen soon.

I got this computer refurbished many years ago, so it's possible it's always been this way.

Thanks

Mmm… This doesn’t sound good, pun intended! This is the microphone cable connector and cable.

We ready need to see your logic board and the cable and/or connector pieces so we can figure out what’s damaged. There is a small cover sheet over the connector area as you can see here. If that is all that’s damaged and your microphone is working I thing a small piece of tape over the connector will be all you need to protect it.

Dan thanks so much!! That was so helpful.

I'm bummed about the microphone but i can rest easier

Funny enough i noticed that my microphone had quit working on me in the middle of the week last week, but assumed i just needed to restart. So the piece must have somehow broken prior to me opening the computer.

To answer your question, the entire connector beneath the fabric cover is freely swinging around in there and you can see gold remnants on the logic board where it was previously attached.

@joshgamble - That make take a bit of doing to resolder the connector or replace it.
